 ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Abstract deadline extended to May 31, 2011
AACE/EACE/CPEN 2011 Annual Meeting is now accepting abstracts with a particular interest in work that emphasizes the impact the cancer education curriculum, program and/or initiative has made on its targeted learners in the following areas of the cancer continuum:
- Prevention, including risk factor reduction and special populations
- Early detection, including screening strategies
- Treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, surgery, and integrative medicine
- Survivorship
- Palliative care, including pain and other symptom control, effective communication strategies
Additionally, focal areas for abstract submission within that continuum encompass:
- Disparities in access to care and services
- Patient/family education, including program development, management, literacy, competencies
- Healthcare professional education, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, social work, and trainees
- Community outreach and education
- Special populations, culturally and linguistically appropriate cancer education that also meets the needs of patients/families with low literacy.
Submit your abstract no later than May 31, 2011 to be considered for presentation at the annual meeting. Abstracts received after May 31, 2011 will only be considered for poster presentation.
Note that all abstracts are peer-reviewed and evaluated using the following criteria:
- Relevance to the theme
- Sound conceptual framework: Indicates the development, implementation or evaluation of educational program(s), a process improvement project or answers a scientific problem
- Usefulness: Can the research, program or plan be applied elsewhere?
- Clarity of content
- Format
- Innovation and/or originality of research
- Conclusions

Abstract Format
Type the title of the abstract in CAPITAL LETTERS. Check the box beside the name of the presenter. List all institutional affiliations following the list of authors. Please note that there is a 300 character limit for each affiliation. Leave a blank line between paragraphs. Abstracts should be single-spaced and left justified. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words.
Please include the full correspondence information for the presenting author, including cell phone number, work phone number, fax number, e-mail and mailing address.
Poster dimensions are 4 feet high by 4 feet wide. Velcro or pushpins will be provided.
Once abstract submissions close, your abstract will be reviewed by the Abstract Review Committee. You will be notified early July whether your abstract has been accepted for presentation, and in what format.
All presented abstracts will be published in the Journal of Cancer Education Supplement AFTER the conference occurs.
