G. Alan Marlatt Scholarship Now Available

In honor of Dr. Marlatt's  life-long contribution to the field of psychology in general and the treatment of substance-related disorders specifically, the UCSD Center for Mindfulness is pleased to offer two $500 scholarships to attend the Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention 5-Day Professional Training. The scholarships are available to all potential participants with special circumstances requiring financial assistance in order to attend. Applicants for the scholarships are asked to register for the training (the $100 initial deposit WILL be refundable for scholarship applicants who do not receive an award) and submit a 1-2 page essay addressing the following questions:

  • What is your meditation and clinical (specifically substance use, if applicable) background?
  • Why do you wish to attend this training, and what are the barriers to your attending?
  • How do you imagine implementing or integrating MBRP into your work and/or life?

The deadline for submission of essays is February 1, 2013 and notification of award will be made on February 11, 2013.

Continuing Education Credits

Up to 26.0 continuing education credits for participation in this program are available for an additional fee, as described below.

$50 BBS: Board of Behavioral Sciences (Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Clinical Social Workers)
$50 NAADAC: NAADAC certified counselors

Partial Payments

Partial payments are acceptable; however a non-refundable minimum deposit of $100 USD is due upon registration.

Please be aware that the early-bird rate is available for all participants who register and pay their balance in full by February 21, 2013. All early-bird rate participants who have a remaining balance on or after February 22, 2013will have their fees automatically adjusted to the General Session Rate.

All remaining balances must be paid in full 30 days prior to the start of the training (March 21, 2013) or your registration will be cancelled for non-payment and you will not be permitted to attend.

Application Essay

Upon submission of your registration, you will be asked to complete and e-mail a short essay describing your reason for wanting to attend this MBRP program, your professional training, and a description of your meditation practice /mindfulness practice or interest in developing same, as well as any retreats or other meditation experiences you may have had.

Cancellation Policy

A refund (minus your $100 non-refundable deposit) will be made for cancellations submitted in writing on or before March 21, 2013. No refunds will be allowed after this date.

In the unlikely event that the course is cancelled, UC San Diego Continuing Medical Education is responsible only for a full refund of the registration fee and not for transportation, hotel accommodations or any miscellaneous expenses.
