Course Description

UC San Diego’s Community Psychiatry Program invites you to attend the Essentials of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing Conference: Current and Future Trends, to be held February 9-10, 2019 in San Diego, CA. 

This course will provide critical updates for mental health providers on topics such as psychopharmacology, innovative treatment modalities, and collaborative care models. The conference faculty are experts in the field and will explore the importance of professional development. 

Target Audience

This conference is intended for all mental health care clinicians including psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers, therapists, nurses, and other health care providers. Special emphasis will be provided to meet the needs of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners. Trainees are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Objectives

At the completion of the course the participants should be able to:

  • Utilize recommendations from current mental health clinical guidelines
  • Discuss best practices in psychopharmacology
  • Review benefits and risks of current and emerging therapies
  • Recognize professional development opportunities for both new and seasoned professionals
